J&A HOME: ABOUT US

Focused on post-foreclosure law, experienced in legal process management.

Jackson and Associates, Inc. has over 25 years of experience in providing legal representation to mortgage banking clients. For nearly 20 years, we've focused on representing REO organizations and their post-foreclosure legal needs, both in California and nationwide.

Our mission: minimizing loss severity.

Our mission is to minimize the loss severity associated with occupied REO assets. Through an ongoing commitment to the in-house development of technology solutions, an honest and open approach to managing our firm, and a recognition of the need to balance the ethical duties to our clients with sensitivity and fairness to occupants, each area of our firm's practice is focused on fulfilling this mission.

Why? Because no other single class of defaulted asset is as likely to surpass the impact of occupied REO on the severity of loss that must be absorbed by servicers and investors. As much as 40% of an average REO portfolio can involve occupied assets; how well the risks associated with occupied REO are managed will often determine the ultimate severity of loss observed at asset disposition.

Our clients include the full range of REO management organizations. Whether a large servicer or a small outsourcer - or somewhere in between - we believe our focused experience can benefit your organization's approach to its occupied REO assets.

Our history.

In the early 1990s, the firm's founding partner began handling post-foreclosure eviction matters for a local lender who had the misfortune of experiencing higher-than-expected rates of foreclosure on their California loan portfolios. By 1993, we became one of the first law firms in the REO industry to centrally manage evictions and related legal matters nationwide, through our network of associated co-counsel. The concept of "legal process management" was a nascent movement in REO at the time, and has since become part of standard industry practice.

Over the years, our firm's services have been retained by banks, default servicers, and REO management organizations of all shapes and sizes. These clients have turned to us for our focused experience in post-foreclosure law.

Today, nearly 20 years after we first started, we’re still one of only a few law firms nationwide that focuses its practice on post-foreclosure law - which means that we invest our time, resources, and capital to target only the occupied REO legal issues our clients face.
